Vienna offers its residents plenty of leisure and recreation within the city itself — in the Lobau national park, for instance, or on the Danube Island. At weekends, though, many Viennese still head out of town: into the countryside with the whole family, up a mountain or off to a lake.
The Forum Culinarium lies in the Carnuntum Archaeological Park, some 40 kilometres east of Vienna — between the Donau-Auen national park and the Carnuntum wine region. The archaeological park is within walking distance.
